Writers & Artists at Work

Our writers and artists are hard at work on completing Petero's Tome of Adventure. They are adding all the extras and additions to the existing One Shot campaigns that were included, and they are crafting the many new adventures to be debuted in this book.

Although there are many moving pieces on this project with so much art, so many adventures, new battle and area maps, and more, our team is still super excited as they continue to work on this. 

The layout work is proceeding as planned, and we are still on track to deliver the PDF by August 31st! 🙌

Our experienced party of art artificers and writing rangers are already hard at work creating and combining all the elements required to bring Petero's Tome of Adventure to life so we can deliver it to our amazing backers!

We couldn't have done it without all of you coming together to support our team's vision and goals for providing accessible, fun, unique campaigns for DnD 5e to the TTRPG community. 

Plus, we were able to hit another stretch goal -- New Magic Items for all adventures!  🙌

Next Steps

We'll spend the next 5 months building every piece of this epic Tome and preparing to deliver everything by our target date of December (2023). 

Right now, we're working on setting up Backerkit so we can send out surveys. I'll keep you updated about our progress twice each month until we've finished delivering all of the physical and digital rewards.

For now, keep an eye on this space and your inbox so you know when the surveys will be sent out. Also, be sure to whitelist Backerkit with your email provider.

Q&A Summary

We'd like to help you make sure you're getting the best reward tier to fit your adventuring needs, and that means we need to share some more specifics. 

Q: Is there a physical tier for the special edition cover without all the other stuff? I’d snap it up. I can’t find a way to get just the special edition book without having it as an add-on to another physical book, which isn’t ideal as I don’t need two copies.

A: Done! We've added it. 

Q: Do the VTT tiers includes a PDF copy of Petero's Tome of Adventure?

A: Yes, all VTT tiers include the PDF edition. 

Q: Would it be possible to get the Player Handout Pack as a separate add-on as well? Would love to get the physical book + map pack + handout pack, but I didn't see the handouts as an option for add-on.

A: Yes, it should be available now. 

Q: Will the VTT options be available as add-ons or later in the Backerkit? I pledged to the Limited Edition cover tier but wanted to also get the Foundry VTT.

A: Yes, they will indeed be available in Backerkit. And they will be there for a few months. Hopefully should give you plenty of time.

Q: Are these all new adventures? Or does this include adventures from your previous Kickstarter campaigns?

A: It'll be about 5/6 existing and 6/7+ new. The existing adventures will also have some bonus material. I hope that helps.

Q: Could we have the Player Handout Pack as an add-on?

A: Yes, it should be available now. 

Q: I like the way that Tome of Adventure appeals to mid core gamers who might not have the prep time to develop their own adventures. Does this game require pre-existing familiarity with DnD rules? If not, what does the prep time look like for new players including the reading of instructions?

A: We tried our best to make this book as easily accessible to new players as possible, because we are passionate about spreading our love of the game :)

What makes this book so special is that it starts with level 1 adventures and gently progresses all the way up to level 9-10. Along with each adventure, we have include 4 pre-gen character sheets designed specifically with each story line in mind, so this takes a lot of labour off the players and the GM (I know character creation can be a bit daunting for some new players and the GM doesn't always have time to build 4+ characters from scratch).

Of course, it always helps if players and GMs have some concept of the basic rules in the DMG and Player's Handbook. However, taking on board your comment, I am now working with the team to develop ideas to make this book even more beginner-friendly. Watch this space for updates on how we might deliver that.

Q:  What will be the scope of the adventures? ~2-3 sessions each, spread over all levels, or short arcs of one or two levels with a focus on tier 2/3?

A:  Each adventure is around 15 - 25 pages long. Some can be run as one shots. But all have additional material and sidequests that extend the adventure over several sessions. For example, The Case of Norntolk can be run in one session (stretched over two depending on how much players want to explore). If you introduce the 5 additional NPCs with their own relationships, hooks, and sidequests, you could easily have another 2 sessions on your hand. Of course, much of this depends on your table's playing style and pacing.

Q: What about the recommended player level? I'm personally most interested in Tier 3 content, or around lvl 10-12, so it'd be cool if that's reasonably represented.

A: Half of the adventures are aimed at tier 1, and half at tier 2. In this book, the highest level adventure is the additional adventure recently unlocked in the stretch goals! This one will be aimed at player levels 9-10. I will take on board your interest in tier 3 adventures as I plan for future adventures.
